How does this effect me? Some background... Our Safety Rating System (SRS) consists of ratings for two types of HHO Systems, On Demand Systems and Under Pressure Systems. Under this SRS a device may be given a success rating, a failure rating or both. On Demand Systems The HHOG Labs OD certification refers to a device that is rated for HHO systems that produce NO MORE THAN 1-PSI back pressure when in use. This is considered an On Demand system, and will receive the OD certification. Unfortunately, many of the devices (like flash Arrestors) on the market today fall under this category. For instance, compressed bronze wool Arrestors may work well, provided the HHO production is kept relatively low and the pressure remains less than 1 to 2-PSI. The danger lies in the misconception that this same device will continue to provide the same level of safety with equal amounts of HHO output even if back pressure is allowed to build. This just isn't the case. An example of how the OD certification is applied is simple.
A device that is tested and certified under the following circumstances
would receive an OD rating of OD5: Under Pressure Systems The HHOG Labs UP certification refers to a device that is rated for HHO systems that produce MORE THAN 1-PSI back pressure when in use. This is considered an Under Pressure system, and will receive the UP certification. Sometimes circumstances arise when a system designer intends for pressure to play a role in his HHO setup. This is prominently found in HHO torch systems. We have found that the danger level rises exponentially with increased pressure. Any device with a UP certification is considered to have a heightened level of safety. An example of how the UP certification is applied is a little
more complex, in that a more in-depth test procedure is required. A device
that is tested and certified under the following circumstances would receive
an UP rating of 5UP15:
